In
1886, W.C. Kenney built a wood frame two-story building
at a place called Shady Grove (which was named for the Shady
Grove Rural Independent School District). By 1898, the store
boasted a telephone exchange and a post office. It was also
in 1898 that the original store was destroyed by fire. Kenney
immediately began work on a new building, which stood at
the site until it was moved to the Boehringer-Lange-Schreiber
homestead in 1986. |
