What's Analyze602? It's a tool used by administrators of the Software602 mail server. With this tool, you can easily monitor some of the activity of your mail server.

Here's a sample showing part of one of the many reports -

What can we learn from that sample -

  • We can see traffic as a function of time of day.
  • Details Include:
    • Count of Inbound Messages
    • Bytes Received of Inbound Messages
    • Count of Rejected Messages
    • Count of Outbound Messages
    • Bytes Sent in Outbound Messages
  • Other Reports Include:
    • Weekday Summary
    • Day of the Month Summary
    • Month Summary
    • Top 'N' Good hosts that sent your server mail
    • Top 'N' Rejected hosts that tried to send you mail

Prerequisites

  • Installed and operational web server
  • Perl installed and configured to serve CGIs from your web
  • GD module in Perl

Configure the Script

The Script has a couple of configuration options. Each should be reasonably self-explanatory, and they are at the top of the file. Perl scripts are delivered in source format, so you can just edit it with Notepad.

This program is Webware. You may install it, test it for a reasonable period of time, and even modify it, but if you elect to keep it in use, whether in original form or in a modified form, you are then obligated to pay on a scale based on the value you receive from it.
