This device is used to sample plant population information. It is walked down a row
of plants while a small sensor detects each plant as it is passed. Distance is
measured by the wheel, while it accumulated the number of plants and the
distance between each plant. Statistics derived from this information are
presented on the built-in display. This information can later be downloaded into
a computer via a conventional RS-232 interface. Up to 100 samples can be captured between downloads, allowing
more "remote" time. |

A close-up of the head end reveals the display and
keypad just above the comfort grip.
Unfortunately the display didn't come through very well here, but it is a 2 line
x 10 character display. Just beneath the display is a row of 4 touch buttons,
within easy access of the users thumb. Information is continuously updated in the display as the field is traversed. |
