What began as the Soldier's Orphans Home during the Civil War is now the
University of Northern Iowa.  Landmarks on the UNI campus include the
Campanile clock and bell tower, Maucker Union, the UNI-Dome and the
Marshall Center One-Room School.

UNI GALLERY OF ART

Permanent displays of various art forms are featured, with temporary
exhibitions providing visitors an opportunity to view a wide range of
artwork.  Open Monday-Thursday 9 a.m.-9 p.m., Friday 9-5 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday 12-4 p.m. during the summer.

Home of the UNI Panthers, the 16,400 seat UNI-Dome offers various sporting
events, large exhibitions, concerts and events ranging from truck and
tractor pulls to rodeos throughout the year.

UNI MUSEUM
University of Northern Iowa

Created in 1892, this museum boasts the largest natural science collection
- geology, biology, history and anthropology - in Northeast Iowa.  The
museum serves both the University and the community.  Open Monday-Friday
9-4:30 p.m., Sunday 1-4:30 p.m.  Closed Sundays June-August.

UNI MARSHALL CENTER ONE-ROOM SCHOOL

Preschool through college level classes can experience a typical day in a
1900-1920 schoolroom.  Lessons are presented by UNI faculty or former
one-room school teachers.  Special events are offered to the public
throughout the year.

UNI SCHOOL OF MUSIC

The UNI School of Music presents a myriad of concerts during each academic
year.  A symphony orchestra, three bands, three jazz bands, four choruses,
numerous smaller ensembles and faculty and student recitals take place in
the 600-seat Russell Hall.  Concerts are generally free and open to the
public.  Call the number above to be placed on a mailing list.

UNI's 19 men's and women's intercollegiate athletics programs compete at the
NCAA Division I level (football in IAA) in the Missouri Valley Conference
(football is in the Gateway Conference).
