Emil Robert Tanay (pronounced Tah-NYE) is Professor and Vice Dean at the
Academy of Fine Arts, University of Zagreb, Croatia. During the
war in the former Yugoslavia, 1991-1995, Dr. Tanay worked with
children who had been displaced and traumatized as a result of the hostilities.
Dr. Tanay is leader of the Croatian Minstry of Education and Culture
research team for art education in the primary schools. He is author of
the art education curriculum for Croatia's public schools, and is
co-director of the National Project Early Awareness for talented
students ages 6 to 10.
He is a member of the National Art Education Association, National
Society for Education Through Art and Design, and the International
Society for Education Through Art. He has served as President of the
Union of Art Education Teachers in the Republic of Croatia, and lectures
throughout Europe and the United States.
