Ice DiveOn March 1, 2003 we held our annual ice training dive. The outside temperature was 30 and the water temperature was 36 degrees. Back-up safety diver Kevin Kirchner (sitting) waits as diver Doug Kloster prepares to enter the Water. Marv Anderson is the tender for this dive. His primary responsibility is to keep track of the diver below the ice and make sure he is OK. The safety diver and other team members stand by. One of our divers surfaces in the safety hole which was cut 30 feet from the primary entrance hole. This safety hole is cut as a second way out from under the ice if for any reason the primary hole would become blocked. |
