QUEEN OF PEACE FALL FESTIVAL
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 7TH
RAFFLE TICKETS NOW ON SALE DURING MASSES! 500 tickets will be sold for $20.00 each. Forty
three cash prizes will be given away for a total of $5,000. The first prize will be $1,500.
If you would like to help Danny Schmitz with the sale of tickets or to purchase a ticket,
call the rectory (226-3655) or Danny Schmitz (291-6453).
FLOOD/TORNADO COLLECTION TOTAL
Thanks to all your generous monetary donations, Queen of Peace was able to send $3,538.54 to
Catholic Charities Relief Fund to aid the victims of Iowa’s recent tornado and also the
victims of the recent flood.
BUDS AND BLOSSOMS GARDEN CLUB
The Buds and Blossoms Garden Club will meet at the Educational Center of the Cedar Valley
Arboretum and Botanical Garden at Hawkeye Community College on Monday, July 21 at 7:00 p.m.
Julie Evenson from the Iowa State Extension Service will speak on flower bed designs and
answer any questions you might have about garden problems. You are welcome to come early
for a self-guided tour of the gardens.
ALTAR SERVER TRAINING
We would like to invite all young people who have received their 1st Holy Communion to
become Altar Servers for Queen of Peace Parish. We have scheduled training for Saturday,
August 9th at 10:00 a.m. All servers who are already trained are welcome to come for
refresher training and pizza for all afterwards. Please join in serving your parish. Any

Adult Formation
SUMMER AT THE CELLAR
Kevin Feyen, director of Young Adult Ministry for the Archdiocese of Dubuque, will discuss
"Five More Things Parents and Grandparents Should Know About Young Adults" in the Summer at
the Cellar series on Wednesday, July 23. This is an excellent opportunity for young adults
who want to understand their own world, and for older folks who are looking for a clue as to
why the younger generation thinks, acts and believes so differently. The program begins at
7:00pm at the Cellar Lounge in downtown Waterloo. Beverages and food will be available

BLESSED SACRAMENT SCHOOL
A letter will be sent home the week of July 14th. If you did not receive one call the school office (233-7863). We will hold our annual Business Night Tuesday, August 5th, from 3-7 pm. You may make tuition, lunch, daycare, and bus payments at that time. Home School, cafeteria, and KidZone will be present if you have any questions about spirit wear or payments.
Any student participating in sports may receive a physical that evening for $10. You do not have to make an appointment for this physical. All boys participating in wrestling (grades 3-8) and any student in grades 6-8 must have a physical before participating in any practices.
Family folders will be in church the weekends of July 26/27 and August 2/3. The folders may also be picked up at the school office during those weeks.
Our orientation day is Monday, August 18, A schedule for that day will be in your family folders. You will be able to meet the teachers and bring the students' supplies at that time. Our first day of school is Tuesday, August 19th. Kindergarten students will be tested on August 19 and 20th. Please sign up for a time. The kindergarten students' first full day of school will be Thursday, August 21st. Please call the school office if you have questions.
