 Virtual Tour - Rehearsal Hall

Rehearsal Hall Door

Behind you to your left as you enter you will see
a blackboard and clock. It still keeps good time
and runs for a very long time on one winding.

In front of you is the podium and conductor's music
desk. It was once used in an opera house. The arrows
are pointing to two "swamp coolers." This was an
early form of air conditioning. Cold water ran through
a radiator and a fan blew from behind, providing
dehumidification and cooling. Modern air conditioning
was installed in the late 1960s, seen in the picture "to
the conductor's right" below.

On the north wall of the rehearsal hall there are many
band pictures and a few antique chairs.

Northeast corner: door to the office, wicker couch,
window to light shaft (skylight above), drinking fountain.

Northeast corner: Drinking fountain with piece
of wood above which held the faucet in the
"on" position to keep the water cold.
