Friends of the Cedar Falls Band

The Friends of the Cedar Falls Band, chaired by band Vice-President Barry Dvorak, provides important supplemental support for our band such as special purchases of equipment like tympani, a new gong, new music and other special capital items and activities. Their support was essential during leaner times when city funding fell short, and will continue to play an important role as our band continues to flourish as a model of community service and pride.

Recent Friends' donations have made possible:

- The purchase of several new instruments including a set of chimes, an alto and bass clarinet and several percussion instruments and equipment.

- The reconditioning of a beautiful historic set of bells. The original wooden case was refinished and the bells were replated and retuned. (The wooden strip seen attached to the "sharps" in the picture below is to hold those bars in place when the case is closed. It is removed when the instrument is being played.)

- Donations to the Gary Lettow memorial were used for the purchase of over 20 new pieces of music.
