Do you know for sure if you, or maybe a friend, relative, associate, or neighbor, know for certain that you are going to go to heaven? The Bible says, "These things I have written to you, that you may know that you have eternal life." If you aren’t certain that you are going to heaven or have eternal life, we would love to share some really good news with you. Please put your name, address, and phone number in the DO YOU KNOW CROSS BOX and the EE Ministry will contact you. Thank you.

Seeking Volunteers Jesse Cosby Center

Jesse Cosby Neighborhood Center is in need of volunteer drivers and runners to deliver meals to homebound recipients. You can volunteer once a week, every other week or once a month. You should count on one to one and a half (1 ½) hours per day to deliver the meals. Your church group might want to do this on a rotating basis.

New volunteers attend a very brief orientation session before they start volunteering (often the first day they volunteer), Volunteer drivers donate their mileage, which is tax deductible. Should funds become available, we will collect mileage information in order to reimburse. Each driver must carry his or her own auto liability insurance.

The Center is also looking for volunteers to help with our senior services recreation and education program and help with outreach in helping clients prevent or overcome homelessness through our rental and utility assistance program.

If interested in volunteering for the meals call 234-1793 and ask for Betty. To volunteer for the other program, as for Gary or Jesse. Thank you for your help.

Mal Duncan Scholarship

A scholarship fund has been established in memory of Mal Duncan. In addition to many community activities, Mal spent countless hours on scholarship committees, and advising and mentoring students, in groups and one-on-one. That's why his family feels that establishing a scholarship fund in his name is the most appropriate way to honor his memory.

Mal Duncan believed that persistence in education would pay off down the road. He often talked to students about making a sacrifice for a few years to get marketable training because it is an investment in their future. His slogan for that was "4 for 40": 4 years of hard work during college so that they would have career options for the next 40 years.

A $500 scholarship will be awarded yearly and is open to the public.  Application forms are available through the church office, high school guidance counselors offices, and UNICUE.  The deadlines for the return of each scholarship application is March 16, 2011!
